Assemblyman Weprin Celebrated 36th Anniversary of Young Israel of Jamaica Estates “YIJE: Our Shul & Our Home”
Queens, NY – Assemblyman David I. Weprin (D-Richmond Hill) attended the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates’ 36th anniversary celebration this past Saturday at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst, N.Y.
“Since its inception in 1978, the shul, led by Rabbi Shlomo Hochberg has been a constant source of inspiration and renewal for tens of thousands of young Jewish families in Eastern Queens, including myself, Ronni, and our family,” said Assemblyman Weprin. “We are proud to call the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates our home; our shul. We are thankful for YIJE’s tireless dedication to cultural awareness, Jewish education, youth empowerment, community development, and philanthropic engagements, which deserve our highest respect and gratitude.”
In addition, Assemblyman Weprin offered a congratulatory remark for YIJE’s Guests of Honor, who were being honored this year for their service and dedication to the community.
“For Judy & Zev Berman and Mazalit & Mordy Brandwein, especially as your friend, I am honored to personally recognize and thank you tonight for your extraordinary show of leadership, service, and commitment to our shul and our great state,” added Assemblyman Weprin. “I wish you all the best in the next 36 years.”
