If you are planning on doing any clothing shopping, now is a great time! As the freshly passed State budget takes effect Sunday, April 1st, with it comes an increase on the state sales tax exemption on clothing and footwear. Now all clothing and footwear up to $110 each will be exempt from state sales tax.

Additionally, this budget included $93 million for opportunity programs for economically disadvantaged young people to go to college and $150 per student for community college. This is the first base-aid increase in 5 years. I am very excited, as the Chair of Higher Education, to see these programs funded
