ReCharge New York Program Will Help Mid-Hudson Valley

Assemblywoman Didi Barrett (D-Washington) announced that Ginsberg’s Institutional Foods in Hudson and IBM in Hopewell Junction have been approved to receive the first round of low-cost power allocations under the ReCharge New York (RNY) program.

“ReCharge New York will help ease the burden of increasing utility costs on local companies committed to retaining local jobs, including Ginsberg’s Institutional Foods and IBM in Hopewell Junction,” Assemblywoman Barrett said. “Lowering energy bills for our businesses is essential to help grow our economy, as well as provide job security to hardworking families across the Mid-Hudson region.”

The RNY program is a statewide plan designed to help retain jobs and boost capital investments by providing low-cost power to companies across the Mid-Hudson Valley. The power will be available to local qualified businesses on July 1, Assemblywoman Barrett added.

By receiving low-cost power allocations under the RNY program, Ginsberg’s Institutional Foods will be able to create and retain 225 jobs. In addition, IBM will be able to create and maintain 2,350 jobs. Both businesses have a seven-year contract under the program.

“This commonsense program will bring a much-needed boost to our local economy and create a more business-friendly atmosphere in the Mid-Hudson Valley, while significantly reducing companies’ utility bills,” Assemblywoman Barrett added.
