Convicted Public Officials Shouldn’t Be Rewarded with State Pensions
Barrett: We must send a clear message that bad behavior will not be tolerated

“Public officials found guilty of a criminal behavior and violating the public’s trust do not deserve to be taking taxpayer-funded pensions. Today, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara called for the revocation of pensions from public officials who have been convicted of a crime. While cracking down on these officials is a good step-forward it is a temporary fix. More can be done to stop this behavior once and for all and that it is why I support legislation that would strip all New York State public officials from receiving a public pension for any felony while in office.”
