“Today, the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to basic equality by passing a series of bills aimed at eliminating pay disparity in the workforce. Women and men across the country have fought tirelessly to raise awareness of pay inequality women face in the workforce, citing the statistic of 86 cents women, in New York, make to every dollar their male counterpart earns even in 2015. I am proud that my colleagues and I were able to pass legislation that will not only help to close the gender wage gap but also secure the future of our women, who are often heads of households, families and economy.”
