“My no vote on the legalization of MMA-- in committee and on the floor-- reflect the position I have held since I was first elected to the Assembly. I cannot support a brutal sport that promotes misogynistic behavior or one that has the potential to cause serious health consequences. We are just beginning to scratch the surface on our understanding of concussions, head trauma, and their impact on the brain, and I am afraid we may be on the wrong side of history by legalizing this sport now.”
