Ra’s Patriotic Picnic: A Reminder Why We Honor Our Vets
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) hosted a free patriotic picnic on Thursday, August 11 to salute our veterans. Family and friends of Nassau County veterans came together to show gratitude for the local heroes in the community. A few highlights from the picnic included veteran Norman Jardine who performed the National Anthem, Kate Marcino from H. Frank Carey High School who performed Taps and the singing of happy birthday for WWII veteran Rosario Trovato who will be turning 100 in a few short weeks.
“We would like to thank those who helped make this event a success including the Subway in Franklin Square for providing the lunches for the picnic, Red Mango for providing the desserts, Boy Scout Troop 93 for helping with the service, and VFW Post 2718 for hosting the event. This picnic was a reminder of the importance of honoring our great patriots who defended our nation proudly. We live in the greatest country in the world, and the people we celebrated today are a big reason why,” said Ra.
