Ra’s Patriotic Picnic Pays Homage to Nassau County Veterans
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) hosted a free patriotic picnic at VFW Post 2718 in Franklin Square on Thursday, August 10 to welcome veterans from the 19th Assembly District and their guests to enjoy complimentary food and fellowship. Ra was joined by Town of North Hempstead supervisor Jen DeSena, Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Nassau County Legislator John Giuffre and Town of Hempstead Councilman Thomas Muscarella to express thanks to the veterans. Kate Marcino of Garden City South performed the National Anthem and Taps.
“Thank you to all those who made this event possible and another successful year celebrating our local heroes. A special thank you to VFW Post 2718 for hosting and the scouts from Boy Scout Troop 93 who were a great help in assisting with the setup, service and cleanup for the event. Over 80 guests–including family and friends of our Nassau County veterans–came together for food, conversation and preservation of history. This event allows us to acknowledge their sacrifices, express appreciation and uphold the values of service, unity and respect within our community,” Ra said.
