Are You Prepared For A Natural Disaster? Ra Hosts Successful Citizens Preparedness Seminar

Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) co-hosted a Citizens Preparedness Seminar alongside legislative colleagues Sen. Steven Rhoads, Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C-Bethpage) and Nassau County legislator Tom McKevitt at the East Meadow Public Library Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The purpose of the seminar was to prepare New Yorkers for natural disasters, as severe weather events are becoming more frequent and more extreme.

“The Citizens Preparedness seminar was a huge success, with more than 60 people coming to learn what tools and resources they need to prepare, respond and recover from any type of disaster,” Assemblyman Ra said. “The large turnout underscores the commitment of our community members toward readiness and resilience.”

“I want to thank the governor for sponsoring this critical program—there’s nothing more important than keeping our families safe, and the best way to do that is to plan ahead. Thank you, also, to every person who made this event possible and the East Meadow Public Library for hosting. For those who couldn’t make it, it’s never too late to start planning for emergencies. As our climate continues to evolve, being proactive becomes paramount. Preparedness starts at the individual level, and events like these offer invaluable guidance,” Ra concluded.
