Assemblyman Ra Honors 12-Year-Old Elmont Resident For His Service To Veterans
Assemblyman Ed Ra (21st Assembly District) today honored Elmont resident J.P. Iacaona in recognition of his tireless efforts to assist veterans in the community. To date, Iacaona has raised over $5,700 to provide service dogs to disabled veterans and wounded warriors. America's VetDogs provide guide dogs, service dogs, and new technologies for disabled veterans. VetDogs serves men and women who have lost their eyesight or limbs, suffered traumatic brain injuries or post-traumatic stress disorder, giving them companions to help them lead a more active life. Iacaona began by collecting scrap metal for charity before starting a recycling program at Covert Avenue School to raise funds for Elmont’s veteran community.
“J.P. has donated his time and energy in order to raise funds for America's VetDogs,” said Ra. “He has made a significant difference in our community because his contributions have served as a valuable resource for the people, veterans, active soldiers, and returning soldiers of Elmont. I am honored to recognize J.P. with an Assembly resolution that illustrates this young man’s true character and potential. His service should inspire other young residents of our community.”
