Ra Celebrates Installation Of 2012 Nassau County Fire Commission

Assemblyman welcomes new Fire Commission Chairman Richard Gardner and the rest of the 2012 County Fire Commission Members

Assemblyman Ed Ra (21st Assembly District) recently joined with other elected officials to celebrate the installation of the 2012 Nassau County Fire Commission. During the event, 1st Battalion Chairman Richard Gardner was installed as the new fire commission chairman, while special recognition was paid to outgoing Fire Commission Chairman Robert Cribbin for his dedicated service.

“I would like to first thank outgoing Fire Commission Chairman Robert Cribbin for his dedication and welcome new Commission Chairman Richard Gardner and members of the Nassau County Fire Commission,” said Ra. “The members of the commission, many who have served the community as members of departments for decades, are a tremendous asset for Nassau County. I look forward to working with the commission as we continue to strive to make Nassau County a safe place to live. The firsthand knowledge of the fire service that each member brings to the Commission will be invaluable as they go about their mission.”

The Commission, which is comprised of nine Fire Commissioners, one from each Fire Battalion of Nassau County, works as a liaison between the Nassau County Fire Service and county government. The Commission serves to monitor and provide assistance and guidance in resolving matters between the county's Fire & EMS services, and grants appointments and promotions for fire marshals, fire communications technicians, and EMS instructors.
