Ra, Assembly Minority Delegation Join Effort To Promote Breast Cancer Awareness
Assemblyman thanks 1 in 9: Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition for their efforts
Assemblyman Ed Ra (21st Assembly District) recently joined other members of the Assembly Minority Delegation to host a dinner thanking members of the 1 in 9: Long Island Breast Cancer Coalition for their efforts in providing resources to breast cancer patients and their families, and their dedication to finding a cure for breast cancer. During the event, Assembly members Edward Ra, Michael Montesano, Dave McDonough, Tom McKevitt, Joseph Saladino, and Brian Curran presented a proclamation to Ms. Geri Barish, president of the organization.
“Last year, there were an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer, and an estimated 57,650 additional cases of in situ breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women with cancer, after only lung cancer,” said Ra. “Organizations like 1 in 9 are leading the way with efforts to raise awareness and promote research to find a cure for this deadly disease. I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Geri and all the members of the Long Island Breast Cancer Coalition for their efforts.”
