Ra Appointed Deputy Minority Whip, Re-Appointed to Key Committees
At the start of his fourth term serving in the State Assembly, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) today announced that he has been appointed Deputy Minority Whip of the Assembly Minority Conference and re-appointed to the Transportation, Health, Education, Higher Education and Codes Committees. Ra’s work in education is well-noted, as he led the successful effort to alter the Common Core Standards over the past several years.
“I am excited and eager to get back to work on behalf of the people of the 19th Assembly District on Long Island,” Ra said. “My experiences on the Health and Education Committees have been extremely valuable and helped usher in a full restoration of the Gap Elimination Adjustment and vital work on our heroin crisis, but more work needs to be done.
“We must ensure our children receive the education funding they deserve, revamp the teacher evaluation system and fund addiction and recovery centers locally to create more bed space so those affected can receive immediate treatment instead of being turned away to fight this disease alone,” Ra concluded.
