Ra Vows Support for Libraries at Albany Rally
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) today voiced his support for New York’s libraries at a rally in Albany ahead of budget negotiations. Gov. Cuomo has proposed a $4 million cut in library aid in his Executive Budget. The enacted state budget is due April 1, 2017.
“I am always proud to support New York’s libraries and all that they do to strengthen and educate our communities,” Ra said. “The Nassau Library System is a crucial part of our county’s education system and saves taxpayers a great deal of money through shared services while providing our communities with access to services that would be cost-prohibitive for individual libraries to provide their patrons. We must preserve this great common resource and I will surely be voicing my support to restore the governor’s proposed $4 million cut in library aid and to set us on a course to fully fund libraries during the upcoming budget negotiations.”
