Ra Announces Scholarship Opportunity for Long Island Students
The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators has announced $12,000 in scholarships
Today, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) is reminding current and prospective college students that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators has four scholarships available worth $3,000 each. Applications are due by Friday, April 14 and awards will be presented at the conference’s Annual Legislative Conference Day in June.
Qualifications for the scholarship are based on students who demonstrate a grade point average of 85 or higher, are active in their community and engage in extracurricular activities, have good conduct and demonstrate the dedication to pursue and complete a higher education degree and can demonstrate financial need. Two scholarships will be awarded based on academic success while two will be based on athletic performance.
“I am pleased to announce this tremendous academic opportunity for current and prospective Long Island students,” Ra said. “College costs continue to rise and it is important to publicize and reinforce ways that young people can achieve their dreams and earn a college degree. Long Island is rich with academic and athletic talent as well as many civic- and community-oriented young people who I know would be very deserving of these awards. I encourage all who are interested to apply.”
Applications for residents of the 19th Assembly District can be obtained by calling Assemblyman Ra’s office at (516) 535-4095 or by emailing rae@nyassembly.gov.
