Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) recently joined a group of juniors and seniors at Garden City High School in Garden City, New York to discuss the dangers of distracted driving. The event, part of AT&T’s “It Can Wait” program, was held in conjunction with AT&T New York, the Garden City Parent Teacher Association and the high school’s Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) club.
“I was pleased to address this great group of students and activists on the dangers of talking and texting while driving,” Ra said. “Texting or talking on a cell phone is becoming a more frequent occurrence as almost everyone in today’s age has access to a cell phone. Although these devices make our lives easier and provide us with an instant form of communication, we must remember that not only is distracted driving against the law, it is extremely dangerous. I encourage all my constituents to take the “It Can Wait” pledge and protect themselves and others while on the road. Sending a text is never worth putting your life or someone else’s life at risk.”
