Assemblyman Ra Stands Against Secret Backroom Deals in Budget
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) has strongly condemned attempts by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to sneak a tax hike into the state budget being enacted in Albany.
The backroom tax hike would allow Nassau County to issue no assessment refund, or partial refunds, for owners of single-, two- or three-family homes which have been assessed improperly at 5 percent or less.
“I stand opposed to this backdoor tax hike which was placed into the budget in the dead of night by the county executive. Property assessments should be precise and homeowners should be entitled to their money back should their property be unfairly assessed. Raising taxes on homeowners in the dead of night is not the way to return Nassau County to fiscal stability.”
