Ra Thrilled with Proposed Legislation to Remove the Use of Standardized Test Results for Teacher Evaluations
April 27, 2018
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) is pleased with the recent announcement of legislation by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie to prevent school districts from being required to use students standardized exam results for teacher evaluations by the state.
“Having introduced similar legislation to repeal this inherently flawed and test-centered metric shortly after the governor forced it upon us, I am happy there are more people talking about fixing this system,” said Ra. “I only hope this leads to a permanent solution that has adequate flexibility and utilizes true measures of learning and isn’t merely the latest chapter of Lucy pulling away the football from Charlie Brown.”
