Ra Outraged by American Water Company’s Behavior
With the recent release of the Department of Public Service Staff Report on New York American Water’s overcharging of customers, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) is appalled by the company’s behavior. The report revealed the company made incorrect filings with the New York Office of Real Property Tax Services and knowingly withheld important information from the Public Service Commission during rate proceedings.
“The unprofessional and inappropriate behavior of New York American Water has gone on long enough,” said Ra. “I have continually spoken out against the unfair rates, which are outrageously high compared to the rates paid by residents in areas serviced by public water departments. This is inexcusable; merely providing refunds for the overcharged amount is not enough. Residents, who have no other options for water service providers, should not have to put up with an unchecked company for a basic necessity like water service. I will continue to fight for relief and for the company to be held accountable for its actions.”
