Ra Named Alternate for Education Joint Budget Conference Committee

A Statement by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R,C,I-Franklin Square)

Assemblyman Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,-Canandaigua) has tapped Assemblyman Ed Ra (R,C,I-Franklin Square) to serve as the alternate for the Assembly Minority on the Education Joint Budget Conference Committee.

Ra served as the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Committee on Education before being promoted to Minority Deputy Floor Leader in 2017.

“One of my longstanding priorities is fully funding our public schools. We need to deliver the resources Long Island students need to enjoy a world-class education. Now that both houses of the Legislature and the governor have released their budget proposals, it’s a sprint to get the right agreement, and I’m grateful that Leader Kolb tapped me to be one of our lead negotiators on an issue that’s so important to me personally and so important for Long Island,” said Ra.

Ra’s education funding priorities include increasing state aid to public schools so districts can rely less on local property taxpayers, restoring the governor’s cuts to library aid and ensuring that local schools are appropriately reimbursed by the state for transportation and construction expenses.
