“The speaker continues to say we need more time to see if the bail reform laws will work. Time’s up. When so many innocent people are being hurt, victimized and even killed, it’s unforgivable not to take action. This cannot be the version of bail reform Majority politicians wanted to pass. Pride and partisan politics are the only things standing between them and doing the right thing. My message to them is simple- let’s repeal this and replace it with legislation that promotes public safety, protects crime victims and is the product of a process that includes real back-and-forth with law enforcement officials and prosecutors.
