Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) is joining with his fellow members of the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators to announce the availability of applications for their annual scholarship program.

Four scholarships will be awarded, each totaling $4,000. Two will be awarded based on academic achievement and two will be athletic scholarships.

Ra serves as the Vice President of the conference.

The deadline to apply is the close of business on Monday, March 16. Students residing in Ra’s Assembly District can receive a scholarship application by contacting his office at (516) 535-4095.

“We’re trying to get the word out to students in our communities because we know these scholarships can really make a difference,” said Ra. “We understand that so many families are making sacrifices to make a college education a reality. That’s why offering these scholarships is so important to us as a bipartisan conference.”

Ra noted that he’s proud to be a member of the New York Conference of Italian-American Legislators.

“I’m proud of my heritage. I think our conference shows what you can accomplish when you’re willing to work together year after year,” said Ra.
