Jacobson Statement on 2023-24 New York State Budget
“I am proud of the many wins in the newly passed state budget. I fought hard for Hudson Valley families, delivering significant increases to public schools, including for pre-K and Kindergarten programs. Major investments in childcare and our public libraries will help keep our communities strong and set our young people on a solid path to future success. Those who pursue a college degree will do so knowing that the state is investing in our CUNY and SUNY schools without increasing in-state tuition.
“We also delivered for our most vulnerable – as well as the heroic healthcare workers who care for them – with increased Medicaid reimbursement rates, aid for nursing homes and distressed hospitals, funding for mental health supports, and wage increases for health care workers, including home health care workers.
“Our roads and bridges and all who travel on them will benefit from major infrastructure investments. At the same time, Orange and Dutchess County residents have been spared the threatened increase in MTA taxes and New Yorkers everywhere avoided an increase in income taxes.”
