Hamburg, NY – Today, April 19, 2021, New York State Senator Sean Ryan and Assemblymember Jon Rivera announced that the Hamburg Central School District and Frontier Central School District will receive a combined $68.7 million of funding from New York State in FY 2021-2022.

The $68.7 million of combined funding for schools in Hamburg in 2021-2022 represents a 10.6 percent increase from last year’s state funding for the districts. Hamburg will receive $28.8 million (a $2.9 million increase) and Frontier will receive $39.9 million (a $3.7 million increase).

Both districts are made up of four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. Together, their 12 schools comprise more than 8,000 students from grades K-12 in Hamburg.

Senator Sean Ryan said, “Students and teachers faced unprecedented obstacles to learning in the past year, and it was important for us to prioritize our schools in state budget negotiations. Even with federal education aid coming from the American Rescue Plan, we needed to provide an additional boost to our schools to ensure that they aren’t left struggling to fill budget gaps when the stimulus money runs out. The extra money coming to our local school districts will be vital in safely getting our kids back in our schools where they belong.”

Assemblymember Jon Rivera said, “This state budget is a major victory for educators and children. The pandemic showed an array of educational inequalities in our districts, and because of it we knew had to step up and do the right thing for our students. The state funding, along with federal stimulus money, will allow districts to get children safely back into the classrooms and make up for lost learning time. Money matters when it comes to education, and this historic investment is worth every penny.”
