Brabenec Calls for Better Funding for Local Roads
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark) and his fellow Assembly and Senate Minority members have pushed for better funding of local roads during the course of the state’s annual budget debates. Potholes and old roads plague a large amount of the state, and Brabenec wants to see that fixed moving forward.
“Despite the state’s large budget price tag every year, we continue to have dilapidated local roads. Local infrastructure is key to ensuring comfortable living for each and every New Yorker, and it behooves the state to help maintain it,” Brabenec said.
“We want to see an additional $200 million invested in general road care and an additional $70 million applied to Extreme Winter Recovery funding. We’ve had a rough season, and the roads we all drive on need this critical support. It means more than just the beautification of roads, it means we make them safer for all drivers and passengers,” Brabenec concluded.
