“Elected officials are given the precious gift of the public’s trust when they enter into office. They are entrusted to act selflessly in their representation of their friends and neighbors, to the best of their ability. Those who break that trust and are convicted of a felony do not deserve to receive a taxpayer-funded state pension. I sponsor a proposed constitutional amendment that would strip corrupt public officials of their state pensions. When we hear talk of ethics reform in Albany, understand that none of it means much unless pension forfeiture is included in such reforms.”
