Brabenec: Skelos Must Resign Post
A Statement From Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark
May 4, 2015
Sen. Dean Skelos needs to resign as Senate Majority Leader now that he has surrendered to federal authorities after corruption charges were filed against him. As elected officials, we are entrusted to act selflessly in our representation of constituents. Sen. Skelos broke that public trust and needs to go.
Corruption isn’t a majority or minority problem; it’s a bipartisan issue that should be addressed in a bipartisan manner. I sponsor a proposed constitutional amendment that would strip corrupt public officials of their state pensions. In addition, I sponsor legislation to enact tougher campaign finance laws and create term limits for leaders.
