Brabenec Trumpets Good Gov’t Reforms At Orange Co. Chamber Of Commerce Breakfast
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) addressed Orange County Chamber of Commerce members at a breakfast Thursday held to allow legislators the opportunity to provide an update on what is happening in Albany. Brabenec explained the ethics reforms voted down by the Assembly Majority earlier this week and touted the Assembly Minority Conference’s Public Officers Accountability Act, the strongest anti-corruption package in state history.
“The Assembly Minority introduced 17 separate rules reforms Tuesday, and all 17 were voted down by the Assembly Majority,” Brabenec said. “This is shameful and indicates that the Assembly Majority is okay with perpetuating Albany’s culture of corruption. Things like term limits for legislative leaders, televised committee meetings, and more equitable staff budgets would help restore the public’s faith in government, but these sensible measures have, time and time again, been blocked or voted down by the Assembly Majority.”
