Brabenec Sponsored Women’s Equality Legislation Becomes Law
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) commemorates the Assembly Minority Conference’s Women’s Equality Agenda becoming law today
January 19, 2016
“Today is a truly historic day in the fight for women’s rights in New York State. I am proud to announce that the Women’s Equality Agenda becomes law today to protect women from sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination in the workplace as well as strengthen penalties for domestic abuse, among other measures.
“As great as today is, let us not forget that the New York City-led Assembly Majority blocked these individual bills from coming to the floor for a vote for years in order to use them as political leverage. It is disgraceful that our state’s women had to wait so long for these protections when the Assembly Minority advocated for their passage from the beginning.”
