At a ceremony at Sloatsburg Elementary School on Friday, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) was officially sworn in for his second term in the New York State Assembly. Brabenec, accompanied by members of his staff and community outreach team, said he looks forward to fighting for property and income tax reduction this year as well as for a host of other issues, including ridesharing upstate, support of our law enforcement groups, infrastructure funding and mandate relief. Brabenec represents a portion of northwestern Rockland County, including the Village of Sloatsburg and part of Ramapo.

“As I’ve said before, representing my friends and neighbors in the New York State Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Brabenec said. “I would like to thank my constituents in Rockland County for their support during our long and exhausting re-election campaign and for allowing me the honor to serve another two years representing the Hudson Valley.

“I was once a young student listening to my local public official speak about the importance of government and civic engagement, and I am always looking to pay it forward and inspire young people to become leaders in their community. Apathy toward government is growing in our society and that is truly regrettable. It is important to remember that any one of us can make a difference or start a movement and, if nothing else, I hope I inspired just one student to fight for what they believe in.”
