Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) today attended a press conference held by Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) and Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch (R-Bainbridge) to issue findings on the Assembly Republican Conference’s Task Force Report on Protecting the Rights of People with Developmental Disabilities and introduce a handful of bills to help those in need of extra care and services.

“I am always proud to champion this cause and was honored to host one of our conference’s grassroots forums right here in the Hudson Valley,” Brabenec said. “Our Conference has spearheaded this issue over the past several years and our one-of-a-kind task force was a crucial first step in crafting legislation to help the developmentally disabled. It is paramount that those with developmental disabilities are allowed the same opportunities for employment, education and personal development as everyone else and my hope is that this legislation will make that happen.”

The Assembly Minority famously fought tooth and nail to return $90 million in funding to the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities in 2013 when it was cut by Gov. Cuomo and New York City Politicians.
