“It was very troubling to hear of the accusations against Assemblywoman Harris. Unfortunately, it is a constant reminder of the necessary steps that need to be taken to reform our ethics laws in Albany. We need to pass the Public Officers Accountability Act as soon as possible.

“The charges involving Ms. Harris cast a dark shadow on the Legislature, and if she continues serving as an assemblywoman, it will cause major distractions to the business of the house.

“It is because of this that I recommend Ms. Harris resign immediately as a member of the New York state Assembly for the benefit of the residents she represents and for the benefit of the citizens of New York. This will allow her the opportunity to tend to her personal issues while the Legislature moves forward to tackle the critical issues that face our great state.”
