Brabenec Calls On Assembly to Follow Senate Lead In Support Of Blue Lives Matter Legislation
In his ongoing effort to protect our men and women in blue, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) called on Assembly leaders to take up bi-partisan legislation passed by the Senate today (A.2962a) to designate certain offenses against law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel as hate crimes.
“As the son of a former NYPD officer, I know the tremendous sacrifices our law enforcement and first responders endure to keep us safe each day,” Brabenec said. “Unfortunately, a national wave of undue criticism and blame has befallen our police, and that has put them in even more danger. We should be fighting to protect our law enforcement officers and praising their selfless work to make our communities safer places to raise a family. I am calling on Assembly leadership to follow the Senate’s lead and pass this important legislation now.”
Brabenec sponsors several bills in the Assembly, including the Blue Lives Matter bill, which makes certain crimes against police and first responders hate crimes.
