Brabenec Joins Local Legislators, Community Members at Transportation Minority Task Force Hearing

Brabenec has been a consistent proponent of increasing funds for the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, better known as CHIPs, which is a main funding stream for local governments to make highway and bridge repairs
As part of the Assembly Minority Task Force on Critical Infrastructure and Transportation, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) hosted a local forum in Patterson Thursday night to field questions from residents, members of local highway departments and local officials on what state lawmakers can better do to address New York’s deteriorating roads, bridges and highways.
“There’s no doubt about it, and anyone can tell by just looking around, that we need to start taking New York’s infrastructure concerns seriously before it’s too late,” Brabenec said. “I was proud to host this forum to bring attention to the painstaking conditions that our residents and commuters face each day – potholes, traffic jams and detours, which are all a result of underfunded and underdevelopment infrastructure. Every dollar that is dumped into the MTA or a New York City project should be another dollar spent in the Hudson Valley and upstate because our residents deserve safe and reliable travel conditions as much as anyone else in the state.”
According to an analysis by CNBC conducted in July of this year, New York has the seventh worst infrastructure in the country with 60 percent of its roads and bridges in either poor or mediocre condition.
