Brabenec Honors Emergency Medical Services Week by Passing Official Assembly Resolution
In honor of this weeks dedication to emergency medical services personnel, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) sponsored and passed an official Assembly Resolution commemorating this week as EMS Week in New York. Yesterday, Brabenec pushed legislation that would offer a tax exemption for volunteer first responders at a press conference in Albany.
I am so proud to support our EMS personnel and privileged to have passed a resolution honoring the brave work of all our first responders, Brabenec said. Not many individuals have the gumption to run into dangerous situations when everyone else is running out, but that is exactly what is asked from our first responders each day on the job. This week is dedicated to them but let us not forget their work continues around the clock 365 days a year. I applaud their efforts and thank them for their adherence to keeping our community safe.
Brabenec has been a staunch proponent of police, firefighters and first responders since his election to the Assembly in 2014. He is also a lead supporter of the Blue Lives Matter bill, which would designate certain crimes against first responders as hate crimes, leading to harsher penalties.
