Brabenec Earns Coveted Seat on Ways & Means Committee
Third term Assemblyman has been appointed to the crucial budgetary committee by new Minority Leader Will Barclay
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) proudly announced today that he has been named to the all-important Assembly Ways and Means Committee which is responsible for considering, debating and passing all budgetary legislation and any bills which have a fiscal impact on the state. Ways and Means members are also heavily involved in the state budget process in March, tasked with attending many budget conference committees and hearings.
Im pleased to appoint Karl to the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means, and know he will play a valuable role on this important committee, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay said. With a $6.1 billion budget deficit, we need to make some tough choices and rein in Albanys runaway spending. Karl has always fought tirelessly on behalf of the taxpayers in his district, and I look forward to working alongside him this year.
I would like to thank Leader Barclay for the trust he placed in me to be a leading voice on fiscal issues and during the crucial state budget process as a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Brabenec said. I have built my reputation in public service as a good fiscal steward and one who protects taxpayer money against wasteful and unnecessary spending. I plan to bring that type of stringency to the Ways and Means Committee. With a looming $6 billion deficit, we cannot afford to continue to tax and spend our way to fiscal solvency.
