New York State Assembly Member Khaleel M. Anderson Introduces: The Homecare Agency Accountability Act (Assembly Bill No. A06180). What does it do? Calls for the Commissioner of Health to establish a testing program that will ensure our HHA/CAN workers are protected and by extension, it helps to shield the most vulnerable of our society from Covid-19. How does it help? Will require home care services agencies to report to the Commissioner of Health, no less than every 10 days, the Covid-19 infection rate amongst employees of the Covid-19 infection rate amongst clients served by such employees.
The NYCHA Utility Accountability Act 2021 (Assembly Bill No. 01866) What does it do? Amends section 402-e of public housing law to require NYCHA to reduce the amount of rent a tenant pays in the following month on a prorated basis each day a tenant is without utility — Gas, Heat, Water or Electricity. How will it help? Hold NYCHA accountable to tenants who regularly suffer elongated periods without utility or proper notification.
