Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced that she was named a 2022 CABVI Champion by the Central Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI).

“I’m very proud to have been named a CABVI Champion this year,” said Buttenschon. “The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired does so much important work for the New Yorkers who are blind or deal with low vision. From their work helping people find meaningful employment to the adaptive sports recreation programs they run in the Mohawk Valley, to their operation of Base Supply Centers which provide office supplies to U.S. military bases throughout the Northeast, CABVI plays an important role in allowing those with blindness or visual impairments achieve their highest level of independence. I ran for office to make life better for my neighbors. When my neighbors who are blind or deal with visual impairments need assistance, I am ready to help. I want to thank CABVI for this important honor.”

CABVI is one of the largest and most comprehensive agencies in the United States that supports people who are blind or visually impaired, helping all of their clients achieve the highest possible level of independence. The organization follows a holistic approach to care and offers an array of services, including low vision care, vision rehabilitation treatment, occupational therapy, pre-school vision screenings, educational and support services, technology training and adaptive sports and recreation programs.[1]
