Utica –  International Paper has a Sheet Plant in Utica that Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-C) toured this morning as well as had a meeting.

The 125-year-old business transforms renewable resources into products people depend on every day, from planet-friendly packaging and recycling to absorbent pulp. Some of the products produced are corrugated packaging for processed foods, protein, produce, paper, towel and tissue, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, shipping, distribution and e-commerce and other non-durables.

The people in attendance of the meeting were Assemblywoman Buttenschon and representatives from International Paper including Plant General Manager, Regional Government Relations Manager, Human Resources Coordinator, Complex EHS Manager and Pricing Manager. The meeting discussed their mission, statistics and vision for the year of 2030.

Their mission is to improve people’s lives, the planet and their company’s performance by transforming renewable resources into products people depend on every day. The company employs 380 people and 66 people in the Utica location. Each year they produce 7 million tons of recovered fiber and their packaging can be recycled and re-used about 25 times.

International Paper partakes in community engagement by supporting and strengthening the communities where their employees live and work.

On the tour, Assemblywoman Buttenschon was able to see workers in action assembling the packaging that was to be put onto trucks to be sent out to customers. The material used was displayed as well as the machinery used to assemble.
