Utica –  Veterans Day serves as a day of remembrance and appreciation for the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. However, Assemblywoman Buttenschon believes that the spirit of appreciation should extend beyond traditional holidays, prompting her to make Valentine’s Day a special time for United States Veterans in her district.

Over the past few weeks, students from schools across the 119th Assembly District have been busy coloring and creating personalized Valentine cards for veterans. These cards made by our students, adorned with colorful drawings and heartfelt messages, serve as tokens of gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by our nation's Veterans. Some students even included funny jokes to bring smiles to the faces of our Veterans.

Assemblywoman Buttenschon and her team personally distributed these heartfelt cards to Veteran Organizations in the area, ensuring that each Veteran receives a special reminder of the community's deep appreciation for their service.

Reflecting on the initiative, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon expressed her gratitude to the students and educators who participated. "Every year, Veterans look forward to receiving the cards that students make for them," said Assemblywoman Buttenschon. "I appreciate our students' work under the guidance of many local educators. We have the opportunity to spread joy in my district. Our Veterans must always be acknowledged for their contributions to our country."
