Assemblywoman Buttenschon Announces Free Admission to State Parks and Lands to Veterans and Gold Star Families

Today, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-C Marcy) announced that starting on April 1st, New York State Veterans and Gold Star Families will have free admission to New York State parks, campgrounds, and historical sites.

"Last year, my colleagues and I unanimously passed legislation that Governor Hochul signed into law, which will provide free access to all state parks and lands for our Veterans and Gold Star Families,” said Assemblywoman Buttenschon. “Our Veterans and Gold Star Families have made countless sacrifices for our freedoms and our country. We have a moral obligation to support and honor our Veterans, I am proud to have supported this legislation.”

Starting April 1st, all Veterans and Gold Star Families can visit the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for a free Lifetime Liberty Pass. The pass's benefits include free entry to all state-operated campgrounds, boat launch sites, historical sites, golf courses, and swimming pools. Veterans and Gold Star Families will also receive a discount on all cabin rentals at New York State-operated campgrounds.

"It is essential that we thank our Veterans and Gold Star Families not just with words, but with actions. This legislation is one of the many ways New York State can truly show our Veterans that we thank them for their service," stated Buttenschon. "I want to thank all my colleagues and Governor Hochul for supporting this legislation that will provide more than half a million Veterans and Gold Star Families with no cost admission to our parks and land."
