Albany, NY – Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon welcomed approximately 60 fourth-grade students from Whitesboro Central School District’s Marcy Elementary School to the New York State Capitol today to offer the students a first-hand experience as part of their classroom unit on New York State Government.

The student’s day began with a personal welcome from Assemblywoman Buttenschon, followed by a guided interactive tour of the historic Capitol building and a visit with Senator Griffo. The students’ visit concluded with an honorary special group introduction on the floor of the Assembly Chamber, offering the students an up-close look at where New York’s laws are made and the legislative process.

“It is always wonderful to welcome students from our district to the Capitol,” Buttenschon said. “Witnessing the engagement and curiosity from the students today about the history of the Capitol and how their state government works was very encouraging, and I hope today’s visit may inspire them to stay involved in civic life and their community for years to come. I would like to thank the educators, administrators, and chaperones for making today’s visit possible.”

Marcy Elementary is located within Assemblywoman Buttenschon's district. The school visit reflects her ongoing commitment to civic education and community engagement throughout the region.
