Assemblywoman Buttenschon: Repealing Executive Orders Another Step Forward in New York’s Recovery
Assemblywoman Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) released the following statement regarding the repeal of executive orders.
“As vaccination distribution continues and New York State steadily recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s time that we begin to return to a sense of normalcy. Earlier this year, my colleagues in the state Legislature and I repealed the Governor’s extensive emergency powers to bring balance back to state government and help our communities rebuild. Now, we’ve built on that work by repealing some far-reaching executive orders that the governor issued over the past year.
“These restrictions and regulations have long been outdated, yet continue to hinder our recovery process and burden already struggling businesses, such as the requirement that food be served with drinks at restaurants or bars. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issuing more relaxed outdoor mask guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals, it’s clear that our nation is moving in the right direction. We must lift these restrictive orders to help our families begin to heal and move past this crisis.”
