Assemblyman Sayegh with the Yonkers Police Department Color Guard at the opening of National Night Out, a nationwide event the first Tuesday of August to bring police and the community together. The events in Yonkers were sponsored by the Yonkers Police and the four Precinct Community Councils.

Assemblyman Sayegh and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano drenched with ice water at the 10th Annual Yonkers ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts. The event continues to remain a catalyst for raising funds to support research to identify a cure for the debilitating disease. The event was co-founded by Pat Quinn after his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2013 at the age of 29. Quinn passed away on November 22, 2020.

Assemblyman Nader Sayegh welcomed to Yonkers New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, who is conducting a statewide tour to hear from local officials and residents. Assemblyman Sayegh took Heastie on a walking tour in the Armour Villa neighborhood adjacent to the Bronx River to view flash flooding problems.

Assemblyman Sayegh is joined by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, and Grassy Sprain Pharmacy Owner and Pharmacist Anthony Ciarletta at a news conference to announce all diapers sold in New York State are now exempt from local sales taxes. Assemblyman Sayegh’s legislation to end taxes on diapers went into effect December 10, 2022.

I obtained a $100,000 State grant to fund De-Escalation Training for the Yonkers Police Department’s 611 Police Officers. Joining me at a news conference on the grant and training program were Yonkers Police Commissioner John J. Mueller, County Legislator-Elect James Nolan, City Council Member Tasha Diaz, Quantel Bazemore from Congressman Jamaal Bowman’s Office, Symra Brandon from Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins Office and County Legislator Chris Johnson.

I and my wife Sana had the distinct honor of meeting with the King Abdullah ll of Jordan, when he came to New York for the United Nations General Assembly. As the first Jordanian-American elected to the New York State Assembly, the meeting provided the opportunity to discuss issues facing Jordanian Americans and to build on the bonds that link our two countries.
