Smullen Sends Letter to Gov. Requesting State-Run Covid-19 Testing Site Be Opened at Fulton Montgomery Community College
Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C,I,SAM-Meco) has written a letter to the governor requesting that she open a state-operated COVID-19 testing site at Fulton Montgomery Community College following outreach from St. Mary’s Hospital in Montgomery County and Nathan Littauer Hospital in Fulton County. Local hospitals have been overwhelmed by the increase in people seeking tests for COVID-19 following the emergence of the omicron variant. They expressed the surge has begun to weigh on their ability to help and heal patients in need of their care.
“The COVID-19 pandemic brings with it rapidly-changing circumstances that we must be proactive in addressing,” said Smullen. “Given how quickly the Omicron variant is spreading, we must rapidly build our testing capacity so people can continue to work and our kids can go to school. My hope is that the governor will work swiftly to get a testing site operational within our community as soon as possible.”
