Today, Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) joined his Minority colleagues in both the Assembly and Senate to call for an increase in Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) funding, as well as an increase in Extreme Winter Recovery (EWR) funding.

“As the assemblyman for a mostly rural district, I am all too aware of how our deteriorating roads are impacting our families. Many in my district do not work within walking distance of their homes, so they rely on quality infrastructure such as bridges and roads to safely get to work and back home. These roads are often maintained by local highway authorities which are underfunded. That is why I am joining my colleagues to call for a funding increase of $200 million to CHIPs and $70 million for EWR, as well as maintaining PAVE-NY and BRIDGE-NY funding to make sure our roads are safe for families to travel on,” said Smullen.
