Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) visited Dygert Farms in Palatine Bridge on Tuesday, July 11 to congratulate its proprietors, Shannon and Robby Dygert, on 300 years in operation and serving the community. Smullen spoke with both the owners about the business’s success and how things have changed on the farm over the past three centuries.

“When I learned that Dygert Farms would be celebrating 300 years of operation this year, I was truly amazed,” said Smullen. “The Dygert family has contributed much to the community over the years, and I was honored to recognize these contributions with a proclamation celebrating three centuries of this family-owned business’s success.”

Dygert Farms has been in operation for 13 generations and is currently owned, managed and operated by Robby and Shannon Dygert. The farm milks 230 cows, yielding over 2,000 gallons of fresh milk each day as well as newly introduced ice cream that families in Palatine Bridge and beyond love. The farmland that was deeded by the Queen of England in 1723 to Warner Dygert and his family has expanded to well over 450 tillable and 75 non-tillable acres today and is still growing as the Dygerts work to bring the farm into the 21st century. With their unique methods of marketing and product distribution as well as their commitment to improving the business as it passes from one generation to the next, the Dygerts have a bright future ahead of them.

The hard work and professionalism the Dygert family dedicates to their business is inspiring — it is no wonder the farm has experienced the success and growth it has.
