Smullen Urges Cooperation from State Majority in Push for Investigation into Cuomo Cover-Ups

Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C,I,SAM-Meco) is looking to partner with Majority legislators in the Assembly to ensure an independent investigation will be conducted into the Cuomo administration’s alleged cover-up of nursing home deaths from COVID-19. Smullen wants to ensure that the investigative process is fair, and that all sides cooperate to get to the bottom of this tragic situation.

“The issue of those in power abusing their authority to protect themselves from public scrutiny is a serious one, and if that power was indeed abused it must be investigated,” said Smullen. “Any outside investigation by federal or state authorities must go beyond the removal of emergency powers. The public trust we placed in the Governor was not easily given by the legislature, and his team should fully be held accountable. That legislative effort requires both sides of the aisle, which I hope is on its way soon.”
