Hawley Speaks On Federal Judge Blocking Parts Of Concealed Carry Law
Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) is applauding U.S. District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby’s suspension of the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which was passed by Liberals in Albany during an emergency session of the Legislature in June. Judge Suddaby found that several provisions of the state’s concealed carry law, such as the new list of “sensitive areas” where guns are not allowed, were deemed unconstitutional and cannot be enforced.
“Since the emergency session, I, along with many of my constituents have been fighting to eradicate this unreasonable new law,” Hawley said. “Gov. Hochul needs to open her eyes to the clear wrongdoings of her policies in Albany. I am extremely grateful to those, such as Judge Suddaby, who understand how unconstitutional this law truly is and are working to protect our Second Amendment rights.”
