Hawley Applauds Restorations To Agriculture
Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C–Batavia) issued the following statement
The decision to restore funding to some of our state’s most vital agricultural programs is a crucial victory for our farmers and rural residents here in Western New York. This year’s budget contains additional aid over the governor’s proposal for the Wine and Grape Foundation, Farm Net and the New York Farm Viability Institute, in addition to extending support for Pro-Dairy that was scheduled to end at the beginning of April. Through supporting educational efforts like Future Farmers of America and Agriculture in the Classroom, we are fostering an environment where our children learn the economic, social and personal benefits of continuing New York’s proud farming heritage. I commend the Legislature for recognizing the immensely important role agriculture plays in the well-being of this state, and I congratulate Western New York’s agricultural community on a tremendous victory.
